One of Florida's oldest state parks, Hillsborough River State Park offers something few other hikes in Florida can: rapids! There are three riverside trails which create a 5.8-mile loop. This F-Troop, held November 30-December 2, 2007, focused on getting the footpath in good shape. Crushed shell and limestone were used to fill in holes and improve drainage, and about 1,000 invasive Cesar Weed plants were removed. This trail is not connected to the Florida National Scenic Trail, but is a part of the Florida Trail System. The project was hosted by the Suncoast Chapter and sponsored in part by a grant from the American Hiking Society, with additional funding from Florida State Parks and the National Forests Foundation.
