Crestview : Located along the Florida Trail as it connects from Eglin Air Force Base to Blackwater River State Forest, Crestview is an ideal base for outdoor recreation in the region. With its many hotels, restaurants, historic downtown, and other amenities, Crestview offers weekend visitors a comfortable destination from which to hike sections of  the Florida Trail in Eglin Air Force Base, along the Yellow River, at Whiting NAS / Hutton Unit, at Blackwater River State Park, and at Blackwater River State forest.

White Springs : White Springs, a focal point in Florida folk culture, has been a destination for Florida Trail hikers for nearly 40 years. The Florida Trail runs right through downtown. Long distance hikers stop in at American Canoe Adventures to pose for a Polaroid that’s posted on the wall and to sign the trail register. Add the opening of the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail – of which the Florida Trail provides a land-based component – and expansion of the Suwannee Bicycle Association’s network of singletrack, and White Springs is truly a destination for outdoor recreation in North Florida.

Established as a company town for sugar refineries in the 1930s, Clewiston is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the country, with vast acreage in citrus, ranching, vegetable farming, and sugar cane. Pahokee : On the shores of Lake Okeechobee in Palm Beach County, Pahokee is a rural farming community providing a gateway to outdoor recreation along the lakeshore, including camping and cabins on the water's edge at Everglades Adventures, and boating and fishing from the Pakohee Marina.
